Hark! The Angels Cannot Sing
A Christmas Song, Without Jesus

Hark! The angels cannot sing,
“Glory to the newborn King.”
There’s no peace, our world’s gone wild,
God and man not reconciled!
Sadly, all the nations fall,
All of life, surrounds the Mall;
And as heaven’s all a hush,
All that’s left is-a-shopping rush.
Hark! the angels cannot sing,
“Glory to the new-born King!”

Christ, is not today adored;
Not as if, He is the Lord;
In our time, He’s way old-fashioned,
And his birth is just distraction.
Veiled in debt, we cannot see;
An empty manger makes no one free,
God could not with man here dwell,
There came no Emmanuel!
Hark! the angels cannot sing,
“Glory to the newborn King!”
