Contemporary Christian Music is not just the words. It is the rock beat that drives the words.
That’s why the word Contemporary is used.
Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) is a product of the rock music culture applied to Christianity according to the WAY the music is written. It has to be written in a style known as Contemporary.
Spiritual songs are songs that convey spiritual truths. It is when you add the rock music beat (remember the BEATles?), that it crosses a line – unless of course, a spiritual song is doctrinally incorrect.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
In a Bible believing churches, we don’t only use hymns. We use lots of songs. We just never use the flesh’s music to promote the worship by our spirit.
There were various kinds of music used in writing hymns, but they NEVER had a ROCK beat that incorporated drums , and electric BASS guitars that primarily affect the FLESH and crush the spirit!
THAT is why the clear line of distinction in BIBLICAL Christianity is NO DRUMS! There are NO drums anywhere in Scripture for a reason.
